Wreck Penetration
Learning to dive in submerged wrecks is a complex and dangerous activity. Wreck diving is not for everyone, it will require a lot of dedication.
There is a lot of information that has to be learned in association with equipment, environment, emergency actions required to survive as a deep wreck diver, and how to protect our wrecks.
A higher level of fitness is needed for wreck penetration diving than for any other diving activity. Just wearing the equipment can already be a challenge for many people; equipment such as an exposure suit suitable for the water temperature and duration of the dive, double back mounted cylinders, stage cylinders, lights, reels and a lot more. You will have to swim a long distance into a wreck, which will require an equally long swim back out. You will also need good planning and preparation skills.
Wreck penetration diving is an expensive and time consuming hobby, because it is extremely hazardous and puts your life at high risk on every dive. Therefore, you must invest in a good deal of equipment and training.
This course is the first in a series of training courses that will provide you with the knowledge and skills progression necessary to minimize the risk of diving submerged wrecks.
You will learn about safety, danger and special risks of overhead environments, gas management, entanglement, limited visibility, deep diving, equipment, source of information, search methods, underwater navigation, legal aspects, artifacts, treasure, salvage, archeology, etc.
You must be 18 years or older and be in possession of the NAUI Advanced Scuba Diver and NAUI Wreck Diver certifications.
Just dive safely, be thoughtful and preserve this environment!
